Edit: thanks for the replies! I’m going to look into Ivory, Mona, Ice Cubes which were the three most commented.

If you’re using #Mastodon on #iPhone… what #app are you using?

I always find the Mastodon app glitchy and it makes it hard to enjoy scrolling and engaging with people’s content. #Fediverse

I use Mona. It is a paid app, but it is unbeatable in feature set and performance. Plus, it is fully accessible to screen readers.

erin (she/her) reshared this.

@adam I use the iPhone screen reader, it seems to work fine for Mastodon, is this better integrated?
in reply to erin (she/her)

I haven't used the official Mastodon app, so not entirely sure, but reports from other Voiceover users say that Mona is unparalleled.
in reply to Adam MacLeod

@adam noted! I don’t think my screen reader needs exceed what iPhone is giving me right now, but I’m glad an app has prioritized that aspect.

Back then I basically installed ~5 clients, and then uninstalled a client whenever I disliked how it behaves.

Tusky was the one that I stayed with.

I use Ivory primarily because it has iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS apps that stay in sync with each other (mostly). For three solid apps I’m willing to pay the sub although I review every time it comes up just in case there’s something better for my uses.

I've tried all I can get for android and ended up using Firefox with native web UI 😀

I use Ivory. It is very well designed and feels great. It does have a subscription but for me it’s worth it.

Ice Cubes is a good free alternative.

I settled on @MonaApp quite some time ago. I liked:
• The customizability
• Fast updating of the feed (fast enough, I don’t feel like I’m waiting around to see the new stuff)
• Like/Boost notifications are grouped, so you don’t see a lot of separate notifications (see pic)
• Text in posts is easily selectable for copying and pasting (e.g. to do an internet search, or to quote a portion of the post)
• Feed position syncs between devices

That said, I don’t know what the other apps do these days - I stopped comparing after using and settling in with Mona. The grouping of notifications is a big plus for me, and I sometimes wonder if the other apps have incorporated it.

I love the customization of Mona, but Ice Cubes is what I always end up using, mainly because of the tag groups feature.

huh? Have you find such an app?

I’m using the #Mastodon app & yes it is glitchy start like ron destanis but after updating it workers fine.

This app is cool, but I really enjoy it from my #Mac with those four columns interface. #Fediverse

Ivory! I find it beautiful, a complete joy to use. Their custom icons across the app are gorgeous to look at.
