Story time:
This morning, I followed my usual backup routine. I like to get it done before
@Katy Lamothe wakes up in the morning, because it kind of hoses our internet while it's ongoing. I still do these backups manually because I use borgbackup and I don't want to store the encryption keys in plaintext, which would be necessary for automation (though my hard drive itself is encrypted, but still...)
Anyhow, the thing that usually takes the most time is my Friendica backup. I use borgbackup (highly recommend, btw) and the delta is usually somewhere in the 300-400MB range. There are two backups made, one locally to an 8TB HDD in the office, and the second to rsync.net. When I did the local backup, I noticed that the delta was closer to 2.6GB. What happened?
I started the rsync backup and did some housework while it went, checking on it from time to time to see how far along it was. Suddenly, I noticed the problem. I was backing up to the wrong repository.
I'm an idiot.
