How does it happen when someone has an Mastodon account with no posts yet the total post count says otherwise? I've tried going directly to the account instance and same results. For that matter even following and followers show up empty. Scam/spam account?

Okay, that's a good point. Though the following and followers are also empty?

@joel Well of course, but how can you be following or have followers yet the list shows up empty?

@joel Yeah it's confusing. The account in question has no profile info and with all the posts, following and followers shows empty I question if this account is valid.

@joel Could be a federation problem with your instance and their one.

@joel I’d say interact with them and if you’re not satisfied with the conversation you can still block them. Best case you learn something and sasiated your curiosity, worst case you need to block someone.

@DerMolly @joel There is quite a lot of accounts in the fediverse that are what I call scam/spam accounts. I try to filter those out and not allow them to follow me.

@joel I’m not too sure what you mean with the account not being valid?

@DerMolly @joel Well possibly, though I hesitate to do that if the account is not valid.

@joel You are right. Missed that. Maybe you could just ask the person?

@DerMolly @joel I suppose that is possible. Usually going directly to the instance resolves this.
