Okay my patience with Fedi has reached a breaking point. I'm tired of the racism, I'm tired of feeling like I'm in a zoo, I'm tired of how fucking white this place is.
I'm not accepting any new followers, unless I already know you. I will block you if you push my boundaries.
This account will be winding down as I don't feel safe anymore being black here. Y'all stay being weird as fuck.

I've only been here for a year and I can definitely say this is not a safe corner of the web for black people and Black Afrikans. I really have been trying to make this work, but I just cannot keep actively engaging here.
Shoutout to everyone who's been really cool and made me feel welcome, but the fedi is just so fucking euro-american white and there's zero awareness here of that privilege. It shows. Hard.
So yeah... I'm over trying.

Is there anything you can suggest I can do to make things better? It is, of course, not your responsibility to do this, but I'd welcome any input you may have.
The obvious starting point is to call that shit out when I see it, but given my privilege and the way federation works, I don't generally ever see it. My worry is that there are perhaps things I'm doing wrong without realising it. If that were the case, I'd hope someone would bring it to my attention.
I want this to be a safe place for everyone.* I hate that we've apparently consistently failed so hard on that front and I wish I knew how to fix that.
* It should go without saying that this does not extend to racists, homophobes, transphobes, etc. Paradox of tolerance and all that.
