@encukou Thank you very much! TIL about the perspective effect. Do you know if this effect works on object like (dynamic, not converted as path) texts?

That was my main struggle in this episode: peppercarrot.com/en/miniFantas… , where I had to use simple "shearing" (not sure of the term) deformation, to fake perspective.

@doctormo @encukou :blobcatheart: Good to know, thank you! I imagine it will be very difficult and require some fundamental modification at the text object level to receive effects like that.

Right now, the only software I know that can stack effect deformation on top of editable text object is Blender (screenshot, eg. Wave Modifier on dynamic text object, multiline). It looks like "vector magic" how the nodes of the font itself can be influenced by a global effect at their root. Amazing.

@Schurke And for the recording part; here it is. The comic are in 3840x3840px, and saved at 1920x1920p every 10 seconds. This way, I can also record while working on the laptop; it's almost unnoticeable for the impact on performances.
in reply to pyrex container

@PyrexContainer Hey, first, Nightshade is proprietary and not even has a Linux release; so big red flag; and also unfortunately, it's a scam. The method was defeated a week after release, but I love the intent (not the method) and I'm impressed by the Press coverage they got, and how many non technical artist still think this "armor of paper" will protect their art of anything. There is a lot of needs of a psychological protection into this product.
in reply to pyrex container

@PyrexContainer No, it's not just a filter, it's an AI regeneration of the picture with nudging at the pixels level some overall pattern to trick the AI labeling process. (eg. flag a cat for a dog picture). It's extremely costly in GPU resources compared to a filter like the ones of GMIC (Krita/GIMP).
Also, have you seen what happened to Cara over the past weeks? they were offering this type of poisoning as a service... 12 Million of artworks scrapped. 3 times. threads.com/@zemotion/post/DcA…

David, ---------!!! PEOPLE !!!--------
PLEASE CONTACT ADRON HALL @adron ASAP. HE IS A DRUG ADDICT, HAS BECOME UNREACHABLE, AND THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT MATTER. I SINCERELY ASK YOU TO HELP ME CONTACT HIM.

You should be ashamed that, as a U.S. citizen, you cannot even send $42, though you promised to do so two weeks ago. But since you are most likely a drug addict, you apparently do not keep these funds with you. So I will keep trying to reach you so these $42 can be put to good use

that's the whole joke... Any time someone says 6,7 you say 6,7 move your hands and laugh.

Its terrible and the kids have already moved on.

@SmartmanApps This is not what i'd call a representative enchantillon since most of people doesn't even know the existence of Duckduckgo. And once again, the success of the AI tools and the AI generated content speaks for itself.

@Stem
"since most of people doesn't even know the existence of Duckduckgo" - and yet you have no evidence whatsoever to suggest that people who DO know about it are somehow biased against AI, 🙄 not to mention haven't provided ANY DATA whatsoever that supports your ridiculous claim

"success of the AI tools and the AI generated content speaks for itself" - yes, the fact that they are all losing money and thus keep having to ask for even more money from investors speaks for itself 🙄

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @Stem I agree with Stemy here. My observations, outside of my bubble and outside my comic, is that a large majority are using AI by opportunity.

It is free, and provide them the feeling of doing chore faster (writing, making visuals) and also give them information directly without the pain of searching, browsing, and being confronted to various website format and banneers/paywal/ads.

So, the majority is adopting it as a progress in their life, because it is lazy/easy. (1/2)

in reply to David Revoy

@SmartmanApps @Stem (2/2) This opportunistic usage comes also with understanding of the ecological issues, the training data issue, the big corp owning it issue; but they often rationalize that for them, using it provide them an individual edge, and give them more time.

So, this big majority tends to like reading things against AI and things pro AI too; for the entertainement of seeing it as inside an arena of idea. They feel outside of the debate.

It's like that for many topic, imo.

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @Stem I don't think the poll is representative. People in our era ready to even participate to a poll and take action or getting a Pro/Cons mindset are the minority.
Most individual prefer to keeps anonymous, don't express publicly any preferences that could be used against them later, just pass their way and maximize their adaptation to the most dominant culture later, especially if this one become so dominant it starts a witchhunt of the adversarial group later.
in reply to David Revoy

@Stem
"I don't think the poll is representative" - and you would be wrong about that. The DuckDuckGo one had 175,000 votes!

"People in our era ready to even participate to a poll" in a random sample are representative of the population, once you have 25 votes. The DuckDuckGo one had 175,000 votes. Even the Mastodon one had 5,000 votes, and both got the same result

"Most individual prefer to keeps anonymous" - both polls were anonymous

@breizh @SmartmanApps @Stem +1 Breizh

Smartman, don't get me wrong, I would love to believe in this poll's results. But in my local reality (at weddings, in my repair garage, at the restaurant, on week-end) when I listen to my non-technical peers, it contradicts this poll.

To me, this 175K of votes (minus the 10% who voted "pro AI") is just the result of active link shared in communities informed about AI issues, and activists (love them, btw, no problem here). Also, 175K is not a lot.

in reply to David Revoy

@breizh @Stem
"in my local reality" - which is no longer a random sample.

"just the result of active link shared in communities informed about AI issues" - which you have no evidence to support

"175K is not a lot" - as I said, in a random sample you only need *25* to get an accurate result.

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @Stem "In my local reality" is not a random sample, nor are online circles.

The Fediverse isn’t a random sample of the world population.

DDG users aren’t a random sample of the world population.

Yeah, the link was shared in a lot of places, but these places were not random. When you share a link, you’re doing it in your own "local reality".

""In my local reality" is not a random sample" - that's right, that's what David said

"nor are online circles" - go ahead and run a poll of people on the street, I guarantee you'll get the same results. 😂 How many people EXACTLY in the population do you think are NOT online? 🙄 Spoiler alert: if they're not online, then they have no access to AI online either

"The Fediverse isn’t a random sample of the world population" - the statistics tell you otherwise

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @Stem Being online does not mean accessing to everything everywhere on the net.

"The Fediverse isn’t a random sample of the world population" - the statistics tell you otherwise

Does it? Do you have any study or numbers to prove it?

The fediverse have way much french people in proportion than the world have, that’s already a big bias…

And there is more LGBT people in proportion than other social medias too, that’s another bias.

There is more people that care about privacy than in the general population, too.

I mean, the fact that there is a lot more of people on BlueSky than on the Fediverse is already a proof that the Fediverse isn’t a random sample (BlueSky isn’t either, for what it’s worth, but they are populated by differents persons that will have different opinions on some subjects).

Like, if what you say is right, then we couldn’t find a subject where BlueSky, X and the Fediverse have different results.

But there is some…

"Being online does not mean accessing to everything everywhere on the net" - but still provides a random sample of the population 🙄

"It does? Do you have any study or numbers that prove it" - yep, the web poll of 175,000 people, as I already said 🙄

"fediverse have way much french people in proportion than the world have, that’s already a big bias" - only if the French have a different attitude to the rest of the world. Go ahead and provide any evidence you have

"there is more LGBT people in proportion than other social medias too, that’s another bias" - ditto

"There is more people that care about privacy than in the general population, too" - ditto

"lot more of people on BlueSky than on the Fediverse is already a proof that the Fediverse isn’t a random sample" - no it isn't. Not sure what you're not understanding about the word "random", nor only 25 random votes needed

"there is some" - X is a Nazi Bar, so of course 🙄

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @Stem If the pro-AI/anti-AI position of people on X is the same, that would be a coincidence, not a proof that X is representative of the population either.

You are saying that people can be representative on certain subjects and not others, which don’t make any sense.

Either is representative on all subjects, ore none.

If X have more people accepting facsism than the Fedivers, then none of them are representating on any other subject, there’s already a bias.

in reply to Breizh

@breizh @Stem
"If the pro-AI/anti-AI position of people on X is the same, that would be a coincidence" - or simply proof that we had a random sample to begin with 🙄

"not a proof that X is representative of the population either." - a random sample of *25* people is representative of the population

"You are saying that people can be representative on certain subjects and not others" - never said anything of the sort

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@breizh @Stem
"there’s already a bias" - so you're saying that you can't ask fascists what they have for breakfast, because somehow being a fascist means they have different breakfast preferences to everyone else? 😂

"Maybe that bias isn’t important" - you're finally catching on

"you have to prove it" - no I don't. YOU'RE the one claiming it's biased, YOU are the one who has to prove that claim 🙄

"you have to prove it’s a random sample" - nope, you have to show it was biased

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@breizh @Stem
"my point is precisely that you can’t assume the Fediverse or the DDG poll was done on a random sample" - and your point is wrong, given you haven't provided any evidence of any bias

"people sharing a DDG poll or using the Fediverse aren’t random" - yes they are! 😂

"they are people that already have a bias toward privacy" - it's hilarious you're establishing a link between people who care about privacy being against AI. You're nearly getting it now 😂

in reply to Breizh

@breizh @Stem
"There is a lot of these links. That’s why it’s biased" - so you're saying if I see a lot of links about Nazi Germany in my timeline on a WWII anniversary, then I am biased towards Nazi's? 😂 I see you don't understand how polls work. Bye dude
in reply to Breizh

@breizh @Stem
"don’t think you understand how polls, statistics and social studies works" - I have a degree in Statistics dude, how about you? 😂

"Which is a bit concerning for a "maths teacher/tutor"" - which part did you miss where I majored in Statistics along the way to becoming a Maths teacher? 😂

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @breizh @Stem So, according to your logic, Smartman, if we would re-run the US presidential vote here (constrain: only with voter who have a Mastodon/Fediverse account since more than one year to exclude bot and newcomers) we would obtain the same result as the one reality gave us? Right?

Well, statistic or not, I wouldn't bet on that even a single Euro.

I consider this guy a minor Fediverse celebrity. In case it helps shape the way you handle him, you might want to check out one of these threads:

* The poll he ran that he's referring to: dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/11…
* Another thread which exemplifies his mathematical knowledge and attitude to views which differ from his own: dotnet.social/@SmartmanApps/11…
* Any other of his pinned posts with replies from other people.

I would never want to instruct anyone in how or whether to discuss with someone, but I think there is a certain pattern across these different subjects that can help you decide.

Full disclosure: I issue these messages somewhat frequently.

@SmartmanApps @Stem A random sample of 25 people, maybe, but you have to prove it’s a random sample… my point is precisely that you can’t assume the Fediverse or the DDG poll was done on a random sample (because people sharing a DDG poll or using the Fediverse aren’t random, they are people that already have a bias toward privacy).

@SmartmanApps @Stem I think that you should learn about filter bubble.

Local reality exist online the same way as they do offline. If you’re saying that a local reality isn’t a valid random sample, then a poll shared on the web isn’t either. Its results will depend on where it was shared, and who have shared it.

"these places were not random" - says person failing to point out which specific group it was directed at 🙄

"When you share a link, you’re doing it in your own "local reality"" - not if it's shared widely. I ran a poll recently that nearly 1000 people answered, and I only have 390 followers, so it went WELL beyond my local reality! That's what happens when it gets shared by someone with a lot of followers

in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@SmartmanApps @Stem Not, it didn’t go well beyond your local reality, only by a little. People following the people that follow you have way more in common with you that you’d think (the language is one of them, first. I never responded to a dutch or greek poll AFAIK, only french and english ones…).
in reply to Breizh

@breizh @Stem
"But people using DDG or being on the Fediverse is already a huge bias" - no it isn't, not to mention it wasn't a poll of DDG users anyway - I already pointed out that I don't use it - it was merely a poll they published on the web, and the link was shared by thousands of people across different platforms. I saw it here. Other people saw it elsewhere
in reply to Amy

@AmyIsCoolz @Stem
"if the same polls ran on Twitter or LinkedIn it would give different results" - the DuckDuckGo poll was probably shared in both those places too. 🙄 I saw it because someone shared it here. There's no bias in it, and we know there's no bias in the Mastodon poll because it came up with the exact same results
in reply to 💡𝚂𝗆𝖺𝗋𝗍𝗆𝖺𝗇 𝙰𝗉𝗉𝗌📱

@Stem
Not to mention you ALSO failed to show that only people who had heard of DuckDuckGo were the ones who voted. e.g. I only heard about it because someone on Mastodon posted the link, and is thus completely unrelated to DuckDuckGo (which I don't use) 🙄
in reply to Stemy

@Stem you know it’s really weird to just make shit up about statistical evidence

here’s a recent pew research study showing that the majority of the US population doesn’t like AI: pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

here’s a pivot to AI article from @davidgerard that links a Gallup poll and a heatmap survey with similar results concerning opinions on AI and data centers: pivot-to-ai.com/2026/08/25/eve…

whenever we run polls it turns out the majority of people hate this shit regardless of what population is being polled

it’s uhh fucked to come on mastodon and claim to have statistical evidence and then just not link it

in reply to Patrick H. Lauke

@patrick_h_lauke @zzt @Stem @davidgerard Also, maybe a nuance here; if you ask poeple if they are concerned by Google or Meta or GAFAMs; they'll probably say in majority they are "concerned" while having almost all a Facebook account and a Gmail. 😆
I mean, it's not exclusive; and I think being concerned about AI is far from being not using or against AI.
in reply to VANTABlack

Thank you! Yes, I saw many bots being collectively replied with anger by real users, and my first feeling was that the companies, or service creating these bots were only doing this for creating rage/engagement, but I also wonder what the point in training their own audience to rage against this.
Maybe there is layers of bots, by different companies, for different purposes. It's very opaque. My inspiration was a browsing on various article about the percentage of Bots in 2026.

@Linebyline Thank you. For the art style, I'm still unsure about the thick line-art and sketchy line; it felt like outlining my art with a drank truck and I wasn't happy about myself for that. But for the coloring, the little random textures, saturation inversions, and noise, I might keep that; I sort of start to like them. So, I'll keep this evolving, thank you for the feedback about it!
in reply to David Revoy

if anything cheers me up in the “Age of Avian Intelligence(*)” it is how your comics face the issues with a smile. The fact some friends and some admired bloggers are now enthousiast about this technology is depressing.

Can’t wait to see Cepper in a cyberpunk setting 😉 we know you lurked the genre for a long time. Just one strip, neon lights, some robots and black sunglasses! 😎

in reply to David Revoy

I found it interesting that on all the panels the birds are flying they are in the "wings open" phase of their flight. My head cannon is that that they've been trained on pictures of birds with their wings open (probably the ones people share the most) so when they fly they open their wings wide and just hover around like this 😆.
in reply to Light

@light Quick evidences are sort of easy to find 'on the go' while browsing sometime on viral topics; you just need to check the profiles (profile name with a random word+four or five letter hash, generated avatar or no avatars, recently joined, have only history of comments like that and no 'normal' social media interaction).

But knowing exactly how many bots profiles percents on a social media, no. Knowing who own them, no. Knowing why, no. It's very opaque...

@ToonLink this is an example of what (little) I know. The green image is the original artifact, the others are images I have merely altered the color palette. All of these will verify are made by ChatGPT. However... if you flip the B&W version vertically, it will no longer verify. One might believe the verifier has a handedness, however, in a more complex image, no amount of flipping or rotating will cause the verification to fail.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

@KronoGarrett Hehe, I never had the time or the panel count to establish properly the relation to the Amphora of Great Intelligence; but this episode peppercarrot.com/en/miniFantas… had a clue about it. Yes, the Parrot are just terminals. Maybe I'll can set this up in next comics, but I'm also considering pausing a bit on the Avian Intelligence series, it's great, but the theme is also exhausting for me 😆
