@srfirehorseart one of the many best things about the fediverse, is that the probability that somebody knows the punchline to any given joke is so close to 100% it might as well be certainty.
@autolycos they taped together an absolute bodge job of a co2 scrubber, out of cut up check lists and overalls if memory serves. Fuck all the way off with your gatekeeping bullshit. You do what you can with what you have. If that list includes duct tape, consider yourself lucky.
Not sure if you saw the recent report (based on a published research article) that duct tape is 97% or so effective in keeping out flood waters (more than sand bags).
This report presents the results of independent testing of a range of temporary flood protection measures that can be used to reduce water entering buildings through doorways during flooding.
Of course! It has been a staple hardware item since the Vikings invented it in the 11th century. I always maintain a stock of 42 rolls to keep my Tardis going if it needs repair.
Kierkethumbs up convincingly

Duct tape and wd-40 are two very commonly misused tools
They have a purpose, and NASA of the 1960s and 1970s used them correctly

Where we agree
That IS THE USE for duct tape. Not the only, but it is canon
