activity pub/fediverse might not be as efficient or whatever but i think it has a long life ahead of it because it doesn't seem as vulnerable to political capitulation like all of the corpo socials right now

This is why I'm on the fedi and am uninterested in looking at other social media platforms.
It's certainly not perfect, but it's the most enshittification-resistant system I'm aware of.
