I wonder what kind of argument to take in the comment.

The EO is an attempt by one unpopular religion to shove it's beliefs on everyone?

Saying gender variant people don't exist is a willful denial of reality as we have documented cases of gender variant people existing in many cultures and many times.

There are plenty of other species who can change sex through their life.

Also this is just an effort by some vicious tyrants to gain political power by attacking a small powerless minority.

I'm not sure if any of those would be convincing arguments.

thank you for sharing this info.

reading the ruling is sad and infuriating. the sources suck, the logic is flaky, and their terminology and blatant erasing of trans people (and quite obsessively in the ruling: a strong focus on maligning trans women), plus making them all out to be potential criminals... it's garbage

(At least two broken source reference links.. gee how did that happen!)

they seem overly "concerned" that religious people, who want to discriminate against trans folk, are going to be upset if they (the dept) don't give them the legal blessing to do so

all of that "concern" seems entirely propped up on one incident in Alaska where a trans woman was refused entry to a homeless shelter for women, because the people running the place had Religious Beliefs (their god said it was OK to discriminate against trans people)... that's all the housing dept needed to get hysterical about a coming invasion

they are absolutely gobbling from the sewage pipe flowing out of the White House with regards to willfully spreading misinformation and hopping on board with the pseudo-science bullshit and rewriting terminology. like they have any actual clue about biology.

at least it appears there's a campaign in progress to leave (structured) comments against the ruling.

Here's my comment:

"This proposed rule has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with anti-trans bigotry. It is pure discrimination on the basis of gender identity. There is no good reason for this discrimination and it will instead make life less safe for people in need. It is shameful and unconstitutional. If people of supposed "faith" cannot accommodate someone in need no matter what their gender identity, then there is something wrong with their "faith". It certainly doesn't align with genuine Christian values. THIS RULE IS WRONG AND SHOULD NOT BE PUT IN PLACE."

Added.

Thou shalt not stand with the powerful against the weak. Don't side with the bully.

It's a simple principle, but puts you on the righteous side of a conflict more often than not. When I look between the US department of housing and urban development, and a homeless trans-woman or trans-man, and try to figure out which one might be the bully, I ain't spending very many joules on cogitation!

These "safety issues" are obviated entirely by supplying homes!
