Autism Databases: What Can I Do?

I have had a few people email me over the years asking what they can do to fight against state autism databases. Whenever this issue gets attention, I am glad and hopeful that we can move towards eliminating these databases. At the same time, I do not always have the bandwidth to answer every message I get (except messages from clients, which I do my best to always answer).

What are stated reasons for these data bases? I tried your link and read and went back to;
-state autism databases
which was highlighted as a link hoping to answer my question.
But did not.
I have friend who is not professionally diagnosed, works and is afraid to get diagnosis for fear it may come back to haunt her professionally or otherwise.
I thought she was reading to much internets again and was maybe cutting herself off from helpful avenues.
I am in Australia by the by.

I am now concerned and will do my best to answer my q. to you on said internets and see what is happening in my own country too.
I also read and copied this from your work?
>" The Department of Health and the Department of Psychiatry reserve the right to regularly review medical records of autistic residents... "
What are they playing at?
I can understand that it may be in everyone's interest to keep an eye on numbers but this seems unnecessary.
Understand if you can't answer.

@Sable_Shade Honestly I can’t find good reasons why these exist. Idk about any policies in Australia as I’ve never practiced there but I hope they do not have one!

North Dakota’s heath department states they need the information for “research purposes” but are not at all transparent about what that even means. Most I can find is they exist because the government refuses to stop them

I was going to say surely eugenics was no longer but JFC look at the state of the world atm! I don't know the laws over there but wouldn't

be unlawful without consent??
It is here, I'm pretty sure of that (NOT a lawyer!).
It sickens me that more professionals, any, do not speak out on these things and call on those who can, to help!
Thanks FYT🙂

@Sable_Shade It should be illegal but apparently consent to research doesn’t apply when it’s the government. Basically “we decide what’s legal and we decided this is ok”
