We had this awesome "princess phone":
But even before the Ma Bell breakup, but after they let other devices on the lines, I got some silly phone from Sears (I *think* mine was Snoopy, but it's been 40 years)

my college room-mate, former football player (defensive) got mad at his girlfriend and threw the receiver at the floor with all his strength. our floor was 1/4"/6mm of cheap carpet, no foam, then solid concrete.
the receiver bounced against the floor so hard it actually tore up a divet in the carpet, when flying across the room to the length of the cord and snapped back against the floor again. there was a scar in the concrete where the divet had been torn out. the phone didn't even have a visible scratch.
