My research tells me there are 7 active and erupting volcanoes in Indonesia. Maybe a sample set of 100 per volcano for scientific rigour to start with.

I wouldn’t turn it off completely. Dim it a bit, maybe. Thing is, if you turn it off, you can never be sure that you’ll get it started again once things get a bit nippy.
