The bill to lock marriage at 18 was filed by two women, one Republican one Democrat. The (R) was married at the age of 15, but no one still wants to listen to her.

One yahoo argued that if a girl under 18 becomes pregnant, she will abort the child. But if she has the option to marry, then things will be fine.

Missouri doesn't allow anyone +21 to marry anyone underage, for now.
But every gross twitch of resistance by people to such laws always means they want to make the law worse.

Yeah, a dirty old creep named Hardy Billington, who looks just like that belch of a name sounds.

Here's what he axshully said, for any person that takes exception to my artistic license.😁

*snip*
“My opinion is that if someone (wants to) get married at 17, and they’re going to have a baby and they cannot get married, then…chances of abortion are extremely high,” he said.

I’m guessing the resistance to this is coming entirely from adults who wish to preserve an exploitative social order rather than youths who want to destroy it. Chіld marriage is a rather complex subject on the international stage, especially in more advanced cultures where younger people are allowed to marry for love, but in the United States, outside of extenuating circumstances, chіld marriage is usually a one-way affair massively in favour of the older party.

And yet the budget is due tomorrow.

This is how dysfunctional the GOP is.

Lots of performative bullshit, but no action.
