But things became difficult in their relationship when Toni was introduced to a new church and quickly funnelled into the high-demand of the World Mission Society Church of God. Eligio Lee Bishop AKA “Nature Boy”supposedly a self-proclaimed deity, accused of financially controlling the members of his group “The Carbon Nation”, previously known as Melanation, has been arrested on 5 counts including rape & false imprisonment. 1/3
Statements have come out that Bishop films himself during sex with members of the group & weaponised this material when a member tried to leave - creating a case of revenge porn. A current members spoke to media claiming the release of the material was for sex ed purposes 2/3
Bishop has since been denied bond. This isn’t the first time he has been arrested. In 2020, 21 members of CarbonNation, Bishop included, were arrested in Hawaii for breaking Covid-19 restrictions.

In this episode I sit down with former Christian Fundamentalist and Registered Professional Counsellor working exclusively with clients covering from Religious Trauma - Janice Selbie. Janice is also a Religious Recovery Consultant.
During our conversation, Janice explores various earmarks of Religious Trauma and how people may recognise Spiritual Abuse. Janice also talks us through how she divorced religion and what deconstruction and integration into typical society felt like for her and how others may work towards doing the same. Janice gives the listeners some insight into how to become a counsellor in this field and some great resources to better understand the subject of Religious Trauma.
