Hi.

Autistic person here

RFK Jr. didn’t “misspeak” when he called autism an “epidemic” that “dwarfs COVID.”
That’s eugenicist rhetoric.

We’re not a disease—we’re people.

The spectrum includes those who need support and those building the future. Diagnoses have expanded because understanding has improved—not because autism is “spreading.”

Dehumanizing us is not health policy. It’s dangerous

@flexghost. Here's the thing about cults: they need to have an enemy. Fighting this enemy is the only way they can justify the things they demand of their adherents. If a valid enemy doesn't exist, one must be manufactured.

This is intentional. They don't care who it harms.

Tim Mellon's patronage for RFK Jr is also deeply bigoted.

@Npars01 As you share, “Every fascist movement targets the neurodivergent early.”

And if your first thought is "But I'm not autistic, so I'm OK", ask yourself, "Who's next?"
in reply to flexghost.

If RFK Jr is so worried about autism I propose he goes and locks himself into an underground bunker to get away from whatever causes it. I'll help by scanning the foods to see if the have the mysterious autism causer and giving them back to him if they're safe. I'll also lock the door for him! 🙂

Someone mentioned yesterday that it's possible, in his warped, non-medically-trained mind he's conflating Autism with Down's. I can completely see it.
in reply to Jonji

@jonjimama It's possible. And that makes him even more of an idiot.
in reply to Jonji

@jonjimama Oh god yea, is there ANYONE on that administration who knows what the hell they're talking about?
in reply to Carnivius

@Carnivius No one with legitimacy would work for him. The biggest trolls were selected. Election losers, narcissists, etc. It was to rub it in our faces. Main goal? Dismemberment of the US.

**Edited**

My experience with autism has been different. Autism seems to facilitate extremes, and in my case, it explains my heightened ability to think independently, speak clearly, understand emotions, visualize how complex systems work, have compassion, value honesty and integrity, and avoid delusional reactions.

I lack the brain wiring that simplifies communication but can make non-auts susceptible to errors. And dulls their senses. I'm ok with my autism.

@todymotmot I'm fine with my autism.

if anything, all the problems I have with autism is dealing with neurotypicals who expect everyone to be "normal",

@Whinery Notice they didn't interview anyone #ActuallyAutistic for this article? Not even one of those overdiagnosed ones they allege to exist?
