@me I feel like that kind of thing should be public record. Like if youβre looking for a new instance to join one of the things youβll wanna know is not only what instance they are blocking, but who is blocking them as well.
If anything, it would be a good way to know what instances to avoid if you keep seeing instances showing up in block lists.
@me When I joined this instance, the list was published on hachyderm.io/about under "Moderated Servers" but now it stopped publishing that.
infosec.exchange/about still lists theirs, which I generally think is better. If I have to flee my instance, jerry's services are probably where I will go.
Hachyderm is a safe space, LGBTQIA+ and BLM, primarily comprised of tech industry professionals world wide. Note that many non-user account types have restrictions - please see our About page.
@me Do you know of a Mastodon-like that is packaged in Debian main? I am extremely uninterested in chasing upstream or using docker/containerization. I have *.iguanasuicide.net for services and run my own mail/sieve servers.
@BoydStephenSmithJr @me Yeah, mastodon.social list theirs as well. I just looked at it. Itβs a huge list. I had no idea that many instances existed. Theyβre probably mostly bots.
@ComputerNut43 The most commonly cited reason I've heard is fear of retribition from a server that's been blocked in the form of things like IRL harassment.
