Pretty sure my ISP's been rate limiting specpfic traffic again. Connecting to a VPN shouldn't increase my connection speed. I suppose it could be a weird routing issue, but this is far too regular an occurrence.
This has been my experience with Northeastern University (Boston campus), and I never considered they could be throttling traffic, it always looked more like dropped packets, and so I assumed it was a problem with their Wi-Fi/lack in fiber, combined with how UDP is a bit more robust to dropped packets
I'll see if I still have some data on that after a nap
You have just gotten back to your dorm after three back-to-back classes, but your day is not over yet. You still have a bunch of work to get done, so you fire up your laptop and try to sign into Canvas. But something is wrong.
@almonds off topic, but I am reminded of the time I failed to get the campus printing software working on my Linux laptop. I gave in to using cups to print to the printers visible on the WiFi. When I talked to the university IT department about how I could pay for the pages, they laughed and said I should enjoy my free printing!
