Sometimes listening to a non-native speaker say things in English serves to highlight how nonsensical the language is.

"I hope everyone are doing well."

I totally get why they would use the plural "are" with "everyone". It kinda doesn't make sense that it's "is".

@Jonathan Lamothe It actually does make sense when you consider everyone as a singular noun.
@Shelenn Ayres Sure, but it doesn't feel like it should be a singular noun. TBH, I'm not sure why it is.

I'm more interested that you found another example of the subjunctive. Very soon now, everyone will know

"I would like it to go. Now."
