Welcome to #TransTuesday!
There is NO ethical consumption of Harry Potter
Not the books, movies, or tv show. Not licensed games or merch. Not fanfic. Not even pirated.
EVERY bit keeps the franchise alive and enables JKR's transphobia
If you truly care about trans people, you need to let it die

TERFs, PART 3: NO ETHICAL CONSUMPTION OF HARRY POTTER - Tilly's Trans Tuesdays
Welcome to Trans Tuesday! This is what it all comes down to, for trans people and the cis folks who actually care about us. Listen up, and show it to every cis person you know who does not get it.Tilly Bridges (Tilly's Trans Tuesdays - transgender education for everyone!)

For the piracy angle, is it more "you're still absorbing it and possibly talking about it, and it still causes it to spread"?
🎃 Killy Witches 👻
in reply to Gwen The Red Moss • • •@Gwendolyn studios TRACK pirating, and consider high numbers interest in their shows
it also keeps the franchise alive and spreads its influence. just like fanfic and fan art.
ALL OF IT keeps HP alive
You have to let it all go
Just read the essay

They probably track mentions in social media, and the engaging those mentions create.
And you just reminded me there is at least 7 books and who knows how many films of that thing I haven't read.
I will resist the urge to fill that gap, but you get my meaning...

in reply to Gwen The Red Moss • • •@Gwendolyn honestly as a person who used to be a fan when i was young and thought about the content for a bit. Ursula K. Le Guin is 100% spot on in her assessment: "stylistically ordinary, imaginatively derivative, and ethically rather mean-spirited"
There's just better content and her transphobia is proof she's ethically a broken person and i would no longer want to feed my mind from her well.

in reply to hot tran*sexual menace • • •@missqarnstein @Gwendolyn it's literally not about how good or bad you think the books are, and conflating your opinion of them with how horrid their author is is not good, actually. read the previous essay for more on that

in reply to 🎃 Killy Witches 👻 • • •EDIT: just saw the "even pirated" line. I want to stress I still won't look fondly on it even if I think it's less bad. I'm leaving the original comment for transparency and the hope others catch it if they didn't in your original post.
P.S., some of us won't judge you as harshly if the nostalgia trip is too strong, but you pirate it so the bitch doesn't get a single red cent. Y'all already do that for shit that isn't made by obsessive genital police.
🎃 Killy Witches 👻
in reply to disorderlyf • • •@disorderlyf pirating still supports it! when you say things like this you condone keeping it alive and a viable franchise
no Harry Potter means
NO HARRY POTTER. AT ALL. ANYWHERE.

I mean, they *might not* be those things but if they're so oblivious to what's going on in the world and are just ignorant, they might as well be those things. Ignorance is complicity.
🎃 Killy Witches 👻
in reply to Lydia Conwell • • •@lydiaconwell ignorance is not complicity, not in this society. some people *genuinely* do not know. does mainstream news cover these things? people are overworked and exhausted and worried and stressed all the time. people miss things.
this is why we inform those folks, like my essays on this topic have done. because then they will know. and THEN if they still choose to support, they are complicit.
and people who feign ignorance to cover their bad choices are something else entirely.

Meh and Feh…just something innately wrong about it all. Chalked it up to cultural differences between here and there.
But still it felt like she was popular due to a Cross Roads Demon Deal.
Not far off the mark…

in reply to Franceska Mann • •@Franceska Mann @🎃 Killy Witches 👻 I tend to refer to JKR as "she who shall not be named". It feels to me to be the only apropriate reference to her work.
Edit: If that does cause problems, please correct me.

Personally, I'm only that radical (in a positive way) when it comes to veganism. So thank you for your take. It made me think.
